Ready or not, autonomous driving car features are coming. Starting with model year 2024, Nvidia's ( NVDA -2.10%) DRIVE Orin chip and sensor system will be available for use among automakers. But there are other ways to play the development of vehicle autonomy. One of them is small chip designer Ambarella ( AMBA -2.35%). After more than doubling its stock price over the last three years (which includes the recent 60%-plus sell-off from all-time highs), Ambarella is putting up solid numbers as its computer vision chips find their way into more automaker technology designs.

Let's face it, Boston Dynamics is the SpaceX of Robotics, and if you're a fan of robotics like I am, you can't wait to see what they come up with next. While we wait, let's check out some robots developed in Japan capable of doing amazing things. First is the HRP-5P Developed by Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science or AIST and Technology. There is legitimate concern over robots taking away jobs in the future, Japan, however, wants this to happen. This is because the country will have a workforce shortage in the future due to declining birth rates and strict immigration laws.

In order to fabricate smart vision chips including photo detector compactly, we have proposed the application of three dimensional LSI technology for smart vision chips. Three dimensional technology has great potential to realize new neuromorphic systems inspired by not only the biological function but also the biological structure. In this paper, we describe our three dimensional LSI technology for neuromorphic circuits and the design of smart vision chips. 1 Introduction Recently, the demand for very fast image processing systems with real time operation capability has significantly increased. Conventional image processing systems based on the system level integration of a camera and a digital processor, do not have the potential for application in general purpose consumer electronic products.
